Join your fellow New Yorkers in making warm quilts for families living in domestic-violence shelters. Often these women and children have had to flee their homes with nothing. Help provide them with bedding that is functional — but also a labor of love.
We will have work for sewers (machines provided), embroiderers, knitters and crocheters (bring big needles/hooks if you can, but not required), photographers, videographers, bloggers, and people who just want to help by sorting yarn/fabric, keeping the operation running smoothly, etc. Yarn, fabric and snacks provided.
If you have a particular skill you want to mention, please add it in the comment section.
UPDATE: Given the overwhelming response, we will be dividing the day into two shifts.
This event is co-hosted by Brooklyn for Barack and Downtown East for Obama.
