About Us

Sue Rock Originals Everyone, Inc is the internationally acclaimed textile charity committed to supporting the lives of survivors of domestic violence. With such a small percentage of women leaving domestic violence situations nationwide, we felt it was important to provide direct support to these women who have made the courageous first steps towards change.

Each year our volunteers receive the raw materials to create NEW clothing and accessories women living in temporary housing need. Women leaving the cycle of violence often leave with the clothes on their back. Volunteers create handknit and hand crocheted apparel, home decor and what’s more – a sense of hope!

For 10 years we have had the encouragement of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office in supporting the lives of women. Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz has coined our work “Handcrafted Healing” and on May 12, 2011, Sue Rock Originals was presented with the Woman of Valor Award for Excellence in Service by Senator John L. Sampson. The award was made by Senator Sampson and New York’s City Council for this organization’s tireless work to support Domestic Violence survivors in the New York area.

Using discarded fabrics from companies such as Liz Claiborne, Jones NY, Marc Jacobs and Van Heusen – as well as interior design companies like Kravet and Sina Pearson, we now empower people in our community by training them in all aspects of the textiles arts.

Our non-profit has a unique funding engine – Sue Rock Originals, an eco-fashion brand of women’s separates selling at boutiques throughout the New York area. Using reclaimed fabrics from the interior design and garment industries, Sue Rock Originals has a line of “Back to Basics” separates which are flattering to every figure!

Some of our most recent projects include:
Bel Kan Girls Camp – Recipients of 200 handcrafted skirts made by volunteers onsite at our New York Studio.
Days for Girls – Providing fabric for sanitary products for girls in developing countries
Sewing for Survivors – the creation of 50 quilts for survivors in domestic violence residence.
Sue Rock Originals Everyone – Brooklyn Independent Television, May, 2011
Sewing for Haiti – Martin Luther King Jr. Day Event  – January, 2010
Sue Rock Originals Everyone –  News 12 Brooklyn

On Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2011, our organization amassed over 150 volunteers to create beautiful handcrafted quilts for domestic violence residences in New York City. Attached are some of the photos and blog responses for that day – The turnout was amazing!
